మార్చి 8వ తేదీన జాతీయ మహిళా దినోత్సవము సందర్బముగా ఆటల పోటీలు, మహిళా సాధికారత అంశముపై వ్యాసరచన పోటీలు తదితరములు సర్క్యులర్ నందు తెలిపిన ప్రకారం నిర్వహించవలసినదిగా తెలియజేయడమైనది.

Through the reference cited above, Joint Secretary. Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) has informed that the MoPR has adopted a thematic approach towards Localisation of Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs) through PRIs, covering 17 SDGs into 9 broad themes.

In this connection Theme 9: Women-friendly Gram Panchayat aims at ensuring responsive, equitable, inclusive, and participatory development at the grassroots through gender-based transformative outcomes and promote women’s participation in political decision-making at the PRI level

Every year on 8th March UN International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated across to promote women’s holistic development process. This year the Theme of International Women’s Day is ‘Invest in women: Accelerate progress’ to endeavor for achieving gender equality and women’s well-being in all aspects of life which is more crucial than ever if we want to create prosperous economies and a healthy planet.

The Ministry of Panchayat Raj (MoPR) has requested that the Panchayati Raj Institutions of all 3-tiers of the States to organize programs to celebrate the day, conduct Mahila Sabha on the International Women Day 2024.

In view of the above, all the Chief Executive Officers, ZPPs and District Panchayat Officers are requested to

i. Organise programs at District Level to celebrate International Women Day 2024 on 08.03.2024 and conduct Mahila Sabha on the same day.

ii. Issue suitable instructions to Mandal Parishad Development Officers,EO (PR&RDs) and Panchayat Secretaries to celebrate the Day and conduct Mahila Sabha at Mandal and GP Level respectively.

ii. Plan essay writing, elocution programs on the issues of women empowerment, gender budgeting among girl students at various levels.

iii. Spread awareness on the importance of ‘Inspiring Inclusion’ for greater economic inclusion for women and girls.

iv. Involve Self-Help Group members 

The issues discussed may be considered by the Gram Panchayats inthe Gram Sabha meeting for incorporating in their PDPs. 

The agenda of the Mahila Sabha is detailed below. The PRIs may  include additional items to the agenda which they deem are relevant to        women issues.

100% school enrolment and retention of drop-out girls.

Programmes for school children against cybercrimes and substance abuse.Conduct Mahila Sabha on a regular basis.

Discuss the issues of gender disparity and violence against women Develop Gender Responsive Budget Plan.

Provide free legal aid services to the women in need and care.

Women’s participation in economic activities under SHGs.

Promote Awareness on:

Legal Provisions for Women.

Stop Child Marriage & its negative impacts on physical health and mental state of mind.

SAY NO to Child Trafficking.Awareness against gender discrimination practice: sex-determination & sex- selective abortion.

Ensure: 

Active inclusion and engagement of adolescent giris in livelihood and skill development programmes.Registration and tracking of women and girls who are migrating.

All the officials are requested to celebrate the Day in a befitting manner duly involving the PRIs at District, Mandal and Village level and make the programme a success.
